Another Quick Update

I knew October and November would be busy months for me, since they always are thanks to my teaching schedule.  Trying to balance that with everything else in my life has been quite a struggle, as I have so many big things going on right now, especially with my writing projects, that I just don’t have time for everything.  My social life finally seems to be back on the upswing, but that will be severely hampered as the weather gets cold and snow prevents me from doing as much driving around as I’d like.  In a lot of ways, I feel like I’m trying to cram a lot of social stuff into this month just in case other things keep me too busy in the months ahead, which I’m guessing they will.

Editing of my first novel continues, and the further along I go, the better of a feeling I have about it.  It’s nowhere near the point of being ready to send out to prospective agents and publishers yet, but as I keep going here, I gain more and more confidence that I will be able to get it to that stage, no matter how long it takes.  Unfortunately that’s being counterbalanced by a near-complete stall in the second novel, as once I got up to about 75,000 words I just found myself at a loss for what to do structurally.  It’s been a struggle just to write anything on it most days, and I’m wishing I had another project I could turn to right now, so I could give that one a rest and come back to it later with fresh eyes.  I’m also at an impasse with the two screenplays I’ve written this year, but that’s due to an outside conflict that I don’t have much control over.  I’d still like to get moving on those soon, if I can.

Of course, I’m also preparing for next month, the (deep breath) ten-year anniversary of the .org.  There may not be much more than an anniversary column, but that column will be a beast to write, if only because it will force me to look back at the past ten years and all the changes in my life.  I’d like to think I’m wiser now than I was back then, but I’ll have to think about that.  That assumes I can find time to think, though, and time is at a premium for me right now.  I promise, once I catch a break, regular blogging will resume, although given that I’m almost completely burned out on politics right now, I don’t know what else I’ll write about.  I’ll figure it out, though, once I have time to.  Whenever that might be.
